Wednesday I forgot to pick up my son from school
Wednesday I was in a meeting with a financial advisor from Lee Financial Group, and I got a phone call from Voyager Charter School.
They told me that Jordan was waiting for me at school, and I panicked.
I forgot that Wednesday Jordan gets out early, at 1:30pm.
The financial advisor I was with was very understanding. She told me I was a good Mom and we could talk later as I packed up my stuff and bolted out the door.
I got to the school in 10 minutes, and Jordan was upset that I forgot him. I told him I was sorry and I set an alarm on my phone ever since, that rings so that whatever I’m doing I stop and go get him.
I leave it on even when he doesn’t have school (except during really long breaks).
When it rings, Jordan and I both know, it’s my commitment to come get him.
No matter what happens, I’m a mom first, and everyone who knows me knows that.
I quit my job to be a better mother.
I love being a mom, and working out mistakes that I’ve made with my family, with my son.
He’s such a little guy, and he’s my friend, and we’re learning together how to make a great family.
Cherish your kids, your family, they trust you and they love you. We can always work out our mistakes together and learn from them.
