Lesson I Learned From My Ego

Lesson I Learned From My Ego

Have you ever thought about whether your ego is making you money or not?

Check out my personal story on how I ended up overspending to prove myself…

…and how I’ve realized how to grow become wealthy by understanding my ego…

SPENDING TO PROVE YOURSELF

I remember when I got into my current internet business, Empower Network, and started making some big money…$4,500 in a day, $4,600 on another day…(my results are not typical, CLICK HERE for average earnings)

…we flew out to all the events and stayed in the event hotel, ate out with the team, spent money to sight see…

…then we would need to make more so we would put the money into live events, coops, advertising campaigns…

…other people in our business would talk about us as leaders, and ask us to promote marketing campaigns, product launches, live events…

…and we would go along with it…some of it great…some of it we really didn’t agree with…

…we did it just so that we could be in a spotlight…to be a leader…

…before we knew it, all the money we made was gone in business expenses…

…and then one day I stopped paying money to satisfy my ego…

…and I took some time out to understand what just happened and I realized I had been spending instead of saving and investing…

…I had been doing the opposite of what I needed to do to make our business wealthy…

…now, spending money on marketing was a good thing, however, I had been spending more than what made sense for my budget…

…why was I over spending?

…so that we would look good and be like the other leaders, and so that I could get more sales to keep looking good…

…we were spending to satisfy our ego, and not in the best interest of growing our business…

…now, I figured it out and have since changed…

…our business has a weekly savings deposit and we are beginning to invest our earnings…

…we take the time to budget and spend what we have…

…we have a marketing budget which we stick to religiously…

…we are cooking food in our hotel room and splitting the cost with others or staying with relatives…

…we are buying our tickets to events at a discount…

…and our business is growing, slowly, which isn’t pretty for our ego…

…this is a hard lesson for us…

…it made me really think about how powerful my ego really can be, and how I have to be observant to understand how to handle power and also money…

…if you are an entrepreneur you might know what I’m talking about…

…or if you have ever come to a position of power, you may have had a big taste of your ego…

…I just hope you enjoyed this story about our lesson…
