How to Make Money on a Sunny Day
Aloha, my name is Mey Duldulao and I live in mostly sunny Honolulu and today I’m going to tell you How to Make Money on a Sunny Day!
Sunny Days in Honolulu are abundant so I understand what sunny days feel like. I feel like going outside and enjoying the weather! This might mean going to the beach, going for a walk, swimming, surfing…just getting out!
Now, sometimes sunny days make it easy to make money and sometimes it makes it harder.
Here are ways that I know will make you money
1) Invest in dividend yielding stocks
The lovely thing about Dividend Yielding stocks is that they will pay you while you are out enjoying the weather. So you can be in the sun and know that you are also making money!
2) Invest in interest bearing U.S. Treasury Bonds
Treasury Bonds are a great way to make passive income and are much more stable that other types of bonds. They are also at the highest rates in 10 years and will pay you interest for up to 30 years if you invest in 30 year bonds.Plus, you don’t have to deal with the stress of the ups and downs of stocks!
3) Set up an automatic savings transfer into a high yield savings account
I do this and save money all the time. If it funnels into a high yield savings account then the interest is accumulating while it’s sitting there growing! Another great way to enjoy the sun and make money =)
4) Get a job that lets you enjoy the sun and outdoors
In Hawaii we have plenty of jobs that are in nature. Find one that you like so that you can earn money while being out in the sun.
5) Start a business that lets you enjoy the sun and outdoors
You could do a part time business if you only have sunshine in the summer, or a full time business if you live in Hawaii or somewhere sunny like me. In Hawaii child care and pet care (for example, dog sit on Rover.com) are great ways to make extra income outside. You can do pool cleaning, home cleaning or car cleaning as well. These businesses get many more calls on sunny days. You could also teach an outdoor activity.
6) Use Weather Derivatives to hedge a sun or rain dependant business
I just learned about these in an article on Read On (https://readon.substack.com/p/-weather-can-help-you-earn-money). If you have business that depends on sun, like selling sun screen or pool cleaning. You can buy a derivative that predicts flood. That way if it rains you make money, and if you have sun you make money in your business and just lose the premium you paid for the derivative.
If you have rice fields or a farm and need rain, then you can buy a derivative that predicts a drought. That way if the drought happens you make money, and if it rains you go on and make money as well!
Conclusion
