How Letting Go of Control Can Make You More Money

So, if you didn’t know already, I was super busy getting our 2nd AirBnB ready for our first guests who checked in on Thanksgiving Day (November 22nd)!

We finally got our first payouts and so far so good, we are booked up through January =)

As you already know, I was busy and didn’t blog for a while.  

So setting up the AirBnB is what I consider active income, it requires my time and energy.

However, the REALLY COOL THING is that I’m not running the business! 

We have a really awesome manager named Kenny who communicates with guests, checks them in and cleans the place.

So, now you can see how I’m always thinking…how can I work less and make more money?

How can I make more PASSIVE INCOME?

You see, I like working, getting the AirBnB ready, finding investments, closing deals.

It’s just that the work I enjoy, and it doesn’t take that much time. 

Don’t get me wrong, the day before our first guests arrived I was super busy, worked there from 4pm to midnight.

But, since then, it’s been a breeze.

Why?

Because I let go of control of the AirBnB to our manager, Kenny.

Sometimes letting go of control is the ONLY WAY TO MAKE MORE MONEY.

Think about it, I know a lot of people who are running AirBnBs, and most of them (not all), are doing their own managing, their own cleaning even!

So how many AirBnBs do you think they can handle?

Well, one of my friends can’t handle even one, after a year in it, she is selling her condo.

It’s a 2 bedroom in Waikiki, and she is tired of cleaning it, since she has a full time job to go to in the day time.  It’s not really pulling in a profit, since her mortgage is very high too.

Most people I know are handling one AirBnB, and it’s like their part time job.

It’s very rare that I find anyone that is handling more than one.

Why is that?

Because most people don’t want to give up control, and if they are in control, they only have enough time to handle one on their own.

So their income is limited by their time, and their inability to give up control…

What about you?

Do you feel like you always have to be in control?

Do you think that only you can do a good job?

If you do, then you losing valuable time and money in your illusion of perfection.

You see, Jomel and I can go and buy another condo, and hire another manager to run it.

We are currently running two AirBnBs, and we are not managing or cleaning either of them.

Does this make sense to you?

Let me say it in other words.

On Sunday morning, I left my cell phone at home and went wandering over to Ala Moana Beach Park, meditated by a pond, and was so grateful that I could walk, and be active in such a beautiful Hawaii outdoors.

In the afternoon, I watched a romance movie, Jersey Girl (have you seen it?).

Then we went to Jordan’s 2nd Ukulele concert with old friends =)

Hung out with them all evening.

On Monday I spent the afternoon with Jordan at the beach, and then went on a date with my husband in the evening, at the Yard House.

Are you understanding what I’m saying?

I’m not cleaning or managing an AirBnB…I’m enjoying my life =)
