3 Advantages Women Have to Make Money
I wanted to blog about 5 advantages women have over men to make money but after wracking my brain I could only come up with 3 =) The media and our culture in the U.S. and in Taiwan, where I lived for 5 years, tend to have job opportunities in fraternities, networking in locker rooms or in bars and in other male only venues.
In Taiwan, the newspapers specifically said they were looking for men to apply to more higher paying jobs, and women for secretarial positions and child care.
However, I believe there is always a balance to everything.
So here are real advantages that women have over men to making money. Check them out and leave comments below if you can think of more!
#1 Women Tend to Live Longer
Women on average live longer than men. Women can use this to their advantage by learning more, understanding more and collecting more knowledge and wisdom. For example, I read one book on financial freedom every month. How much more will I learn that someone who lives 10 years less than me? On average, I have more time to learn more.
Living longer also means if you save and invest, your savings will grow for a longer period of time. With rates over 5% for short term 3 month Tresury Bills, it’s a great time to start saving conservatively. It also means that if you’re married, and your husband is the same age or older, then you will probably inherit their assets.
Saving and compounding money longer will give you more money to create Financial Freedom.
#2 Women Can Work and Enjoy a Healthy Family Lifestyle Easier Than Men
To make money it is important to be happy at what you do.
Women and men both tend to feel more happy and fulfilled when they can live a balanced life. Taking an active role in taking care of their children, and watching them grow creates a sense of love and fulfillment.
It is expected or at least very normal in society for a woman to quit her job to stay home with the kids. This is an advantage for women if they love a more balanced family life. More money making opportunities are available working from home usually as well, since you are not burnt out working for someone else.
For example, I had never bought property when I worked full time. However, when I quit my job in 2016 and became a full time mother, I had the freedom to view properties and make offers. We now own 2 condos in Waikiki and I employ myself and my mother.
I have time to research investments, blog about finance, take Jordan to and from school and take him to his soccer practices and ukulele lessons. I have a better quality of life, and it’s considered very normal for me since I am a woman. This is changing of course, but it’s definitely an advantage I have.
#3 SBA Assistance for Women
There is a special loan assistance program in the Small Business Administration focusing on women and minority business owners. You can look for ways to bolster your business and money making strategies here.
For example, my friend has a piano business, and she decided to expand her business. She applied for a loan and got it. She used it to rent a piano studio, buy keyboards and set up her new business space. She has even been told that the loan may even be forgiveable!
If you are a woman business owner look into your Federal and State Government small business bureaus for these types of loans and grants.
Conclusion
Usually we feel like making money is biased towards men, however, I believe there is always a balance in everything. There are a lot of ways that men can have an easier time making money but this blog is centered upon 3 advantages that women have instead.
It’s important to see the whole picture, and to understand how to move forward from where you are now. I am a woman and I’ve come to find that there are always pros and cons to everything. So I hope you enjoyed reading this blog. If you can think of more advantages, please comment and share!
