Financial Freedom Myths and Legends

Mey here on a cool Thursday morning bringing to you Financial freedom myths and legends…

…I think I’m still waking up and I have the entire Universe of stories still alive in my head…

…I even did my kungfu warmup this morning, which I haven’t done in years…

…so sit back and enjoy…

The Legend of Midas

…I’m sure you’ve heard of Midas…

…the man who wanted to be wealthy so much that he wanted everything he touched to turn to gold…

…and it finally happened that one day he really could touch everything and it would turn into gold…

…and yet the day that he touched his daughter and she turned to gold was the most tragic day of his life…

…a gold statue of his daughter could not replace her warmth, love and life…

…and he realized that his obsession with gold had cost him the one thing he loved most…

…and so it was the lesson learned that obsession and the love of money to the exclusion of all else brings tragedy…

…remembering why we are alive, what we truly value and actually doing what we love is true wealth…a

The Man With No Clothes

…there was a man who wanted to have the best and nicest clothes for a parade through town…

…he had many tailors come and did not like anything that they brought him until one special tailor arrived and dressed him in the most magnificent imaginary clothes…

…here is the shirt your majesty, woven out of fine silk and gold…

…and the pants were imported from India and blessed in a temple there for all of the Gods to witness…

…and on and on the flourishment about the imaginary clothes…

…the emperor was so impressed by the words of the tailor and the origin of each piece that he gladly wore them, to the approval of his court, and went out in the parade wearing his imaginary clothes…

…everyone cheered the king for fear if they didn’t they would be hanged…

…everyone except one little boy who said “Why is the emperor wearing no clothes?”…

…in the mind we can fashion stories of how we want reality to be…

…however the truth is the only thing that can set you free from delusions and fantasies…

…and no matter how hard you craft your dream world, the truth can be found easily through the pure and innocent eyes of a child…

How Valuable Is Your Time?

Mey here on a cool Thursday morning, with the rain gently patting on the plants outside of my window, writing to you about one of the key questions to your financial freedom…How Valuable Is Your Time?

…to me, all of our financial freedom journey or quest really comes down to this one idea of the value of our time…

…because money isn’t what we are ultimately after when we want to be financially free…

…of course, we do need enough money to support ourselves and allow us to make choices regarding our lifestyle…

…the real indicator though of freedom is the value of our time…

…we want to have control over our own time…

…we want to be able to spend our time our way, by our own choice…

How Valuable Is Your Time?

…so, here are some questions to help you realize how much value you are putting on your time…

…most people agree that the most precious times in their lives are with their children and family…

…to be there for them for sporting events, or weddings, or just to play with your kids and share with each other on a daily basis…

…so do you take the time to do that?

…when you are with your children, and the phone rings from work or it beeps from a facebook post, do you answer it or do you just stay with your children?

…I actually got to realize how valuable my time was to me when my boss once asked me this question “If someone paid you a million dollars a year however you would have to work 80+ hours a week to get it, would you do it?” and my answer was NO WAY…

…at the time I only worked 40 hours a week…

…and that was before I was married or even had kids…

…why? because there is no way I’m going to do a job for that many hours…

…because my private time was too valuable…

…I enjoy surfing, swimming, biking, running, reading, doing my internet business, spending time with my Mom and connecting with others on a spiritual and meaningful level…

…there was no way that I was going to trade the bulk of my time for anything else except for what I love to do…

…at the time he did not believe me, because he had traded most of his time to his job…and he thought that’s what everyone else would do too…

The Relationship Between Wealth and The Value of Your Time

…as I’ve gotten wealthier my time has become more and more valuable…

…all of my notifications on my phone are off, I only check what I need to on facebook and skype at a designated time during the day, I spend maybe 5 minutes…

…if during those 5 minutes, someone messages me on facebook or twitter and I don’t know them and their message makes no sense, I don’t respond…

…during my day, if someone calls and I don’t know them or want to speak to them, I don’t answer…

…if I’m with my family spending time with them, I don’t usually have my phone around, unless I want to take pictures…

…if you wanted to talk to me and you are not in my current sphere of people, you would have to leave me a message on my phone or a meaningful request through social media…

…if I deemed your request of value, then we would set up an appt for between 15 minutes to 40 minutes max, on another day or week when I had the spot open, to speak on the phone or on Skype…

…what about you?

…how valuable is your time?

…if someone asked you the million dollar question would you answer yes or no?

…how valuable is your time?

Conclusion

…I’ve been told by some that my head was a little more clear about how to value the people and activities that I love in my life…

…the truth is that I used to be a workaholic and a slave to fame and status…

…once I realized the prison I was in, I broke free, and never looked back…

…and I’ve been getting wealthier and wealthier ever since…

…all it comes down to is a decision, of how you want to spend your time, and to take action…

…I spend about 1-2 hours of my valuable time blogging and sharing my blogs with the world because I enjoy the challenge, I enjoy learning all that I can about financial freedom and I love helping others attain their goals and dreams…

3 Tragic True Stories About Money Gained and Lost – And How You Can Learn From Them

…Mey here on a humid Halloween evening blogging about 3 Tragic Stories About Money Gained and Lost – And How You Can Learn From Them

…we learn a lot from stories, some would argue that it is the only way we really learn anything…

…well, if you can learn from these 3 tragic stories then it will have been worth my effort in telling them to you…

…all the stories written below are true, however, the names have been changed to mask their identities…

…on this night, we bring up the dead to allow the living to learn how to be better with their money…

The Gambling Housewife

…this story probably gives the story away…

…it starts with a housewife who was bored because her children didn’t need her anymore…

…so she went to the casino, and had a good time…

…she started out on a strict budget, and only went once a week…

…eventually, it turned into a habit, and she ended up getting $20,000 in debt…

…their family had to declare bankruptcy…

…and they moved to a state where gambling was illegal…

…however, the story doesn’t end there…

…she ended up inheriting over a million dollars from her parents…

…and bought two houses, one for a relative and one for her family…

…two years later they were in their home town and she visited her old Casino…

…and even though she had declared bankruptcy earlier…

…that Casino tracked her down, and offered to fly her free of charge to casinos that were out of state…

…so she started gambling again…

…long story short, she ended up gambling away all of her money and her house…

…she took the case to the Supreme Court, and lost…

…the moral of this tragic story, BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE MONEY HABITS THAT YOU MAKE…

The Young Man’s Inheritance

…this was a young man that I actually knew…

…one day he told me the story of his grandparent leaving him $500,000.00…

…and how his parents didn’t want him to have it…

…because they were afraid he would waste it…

…and he used it to buy some cars, and to live a a farm where they grow their own food…

…and in about 5 years, he had spent it all…

…he then could not make payments on the car, so he sold it for parts instead of let the dealer take it back…

…the moral of this tragic story – YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE MINDSET OF A WEALTHY PERSON TO BE WEALTHY…

The Homeless Man Gets A Gift

…I watched a documentary about a homeless man who was given a large sum of money…

…they wanted to see what he would do with it…

…though he was taken to meetings with financial advisors…

…he did not head their advice…

…instead, he bought a pick up truck, and gas for it, and rented a place to stay…

…eventually, he ran out of money…

Moral of the Story – GIVE YOUR MONEY UNWISELY AND IT WILL BE SPENT UNWISELY…

Conclusion

…what do you think of these stories?

…do you have a story to share?

…these stories are truly tragic because they involved large sums of money and it was transferred to others who could not handle the money, and so it left them…

…you might have a different moral, please let us know in the comments below!

…please share this post with your friends and family, and those who you think would benefit from it…

Water “Wai” and Wealth “Wai Wai” – What is Wealth?

…Mey here writing a blog inspired from our family visit to Dole Plantation yesterday on Water “Wai” and Wealth “Wai Wai” – What is Wealth?

…we were touring the beautiful gardens and learned that the Hawaiian word for fresh water is “wai” and the word for wealth is “wai wai”

Mey and Jordan at the Taro Pond at Dole Plantation 10-21-15

…fresh water means a lot to Hawaiians because if you found a source, then you could live…

…you could grow plants, drink water, etc…

…when I think about becoming financially free, I sometimes think that I want to become wealthy…

…the thing is I already am wealthy…

…afterall, I do have fresh water to drink yes?

…water is so important and I take it for granted a lot…

…I’m not saying not to have the finer things in life, however, this is a way was a great reminder to be grateful for all that we have…

…because fresh water is so important for all life!

…what is wealth to you?

…is it the air that we breath?

…is it your family?

Story Time – The Power of This Moment

…Mey here early on Wednesday sharing with you Story Time – The Power of This Moment

…I watched our Agape Sunday Service last night, my online church community with Micheal Beckwith…

…and he shared with us a powerful story about The Power of This Moment…

…so there was a lady who wrote a list of everything she needed…

…she wrote down that next month she was going to need to pay her rent, pay her car payment, buy clothes for her kids, put food in her fridge…

…she put the list in a drawer, closed the drawer and started to pray…

…then she heard a voice that asked “What do you need?”…

…and she opened the drawer, pulled out her list, and read “I need to pay the rent, pay my car payment, buy clothes for my kids, put food in the fridge by next month”…

…and the voice asked again “What do you need?”…

…and she read the list again, she thought maybe she forgot something, “I need to pay the rent, pay my car payment, buy clothes for my kids, put food in the fridge by next month”…

…and the voice asked again “What do you need now?”…

…and she said “now? you mean now now?  Oh, now I’m GOOD”…

…so the point of the story is that in this moment we already have everything that we need…

…and if we expand that knowing, into our eternal Now which is the only moment that we ever have…

…then we will relax in the knowing that we already have everything we need…

…and manifest the abundance that is already in our hearts…

…our hearts that have more neurons than our brains…

…so enjoy the power of this moment…

…and thank you for joining me for story time…

How exercising regularly can make you money

Yes, it’s Mey and I’m awake on a Thursday morning writing about How exercising regularly can make you money

…so, I was listening to the audio book for The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business

…a book that our friend Stephen recommended to my husband Jomel…

…and it is fascinating, I HIGHLY recommend you get it…

…there was a part that really caught my attention on Keystone habits…

…he talked about how changing one Keystone habit can be the trigger to changing a lot of other habits…

…and one Keystone habit was exercise…

…if someone started to exercise regularly, it oftentimes led to them eating healthier as well as using their Credit Cards less!!!

…I mean, how is that possible?

…I did a periscope on this (follow me @MeyDuldulao) yesterday and someone didn’t believe it!

…well, I always say go read the study…

…In my personal experience, I know that when I start doing one good change in my life it triggers other changes…

…for instance, when I cleaned out my closet, it led to me keeping our room cleaner, which led to me feeling happier about our room, and then I started receiving more money in gifts and fee reversals and so on…

…I know my Ironman training led me to eat completely differently, which also led me to feel more confident…

…I remember when I was biking that I made some commuter biking friends and I watched them change from just starting to bike commute out of necessity on their daughter’s bike, to starting to run regularly with a running club, to feeling much happier and healthier…

…it’s amazing how starting just one healthy change in your life can snowball to other parts of our lives…

…I know when I started exercising regularly that I did not start saving regularly…

…so the idea that exercise leads to changes in spending habits surprised me…

…I think it comes down to the individual person, and what they know they want to change about their lifestyle…

…and when they start succeeding with one, such as exercise, the get the confidence to change others, like their credit card spending…

What do you think?

Have you ever started a new and better habit that snowballed into changing your life?

What Are My Chances of Becoming Financially Free?

…hi, I’m Mey, a Super Mom, and I woke up early before my husband and son so that I could blog and spend more time in the evenings with both of them, and today’s topic is What Are My Chances of Becoming Financially Free?

…this is an important topic as less than 1% of the world is actually financially free…

…most people have to work for a living or depend on someone else who works for a living…

…and yet, there are people who are free…

…they took the actions and created a life where they work on their passions, and don’t need to work for the money anymore…

…so if you want to be financially free, what are your chances of getting your goal?

How Badly Do You Want to Be Financially Free?

…your chances are really the result of your desire to be financially free…

…how bad do you want it?

…if you enjoy your job and your current lifestyle and financial freedom is just a whim…

…then your chances are low…

…if you have a strong desire to stop going to a job and spending more time with your son or your daughter or your husband or your wife…

…if you have a strong desire to work on your own projects, be your own person, feed the children of the world, create better irrigation or sewer systems, conserve natural resources like our forests…

…if you have a BURNING DESIRE SO STRONG THAT IT MAKES YOU LEARN, PLAN, AND ACT ON YOU DESIRE…

…then, the chances of you becoming Financially Free are 100%

What?  100%?  How Can My Chances Be 100%?

…I once read a great e-mail by a friend and mentor Keala who wrote that the chances I would succeed in my internet business were 100%…

…why?

…well, let’s say you want to have a black belt in Karate…

…and you go to practice, do what the teacher says, follow the work outs, learn the lessons and practice…

…then the chances of you becoming a black belt are 100%…

…it’s the same with anything, and Financial Freedom…

…I put together a Financial Freedom Checklist, that if you follow it, and do the steps, and they don’t take that long…

…then your chances of becoming financially free are also 100%…

…all you have to do is follow the steps and do the work!

What do you think are your chances of becoming financially free?

What steps are you going to take to get there?

If you are already financially free, what steps did you take to get there?

Wealth Meditation

….Mey here on a lovely Thursday evening, beautiful breeze coming in through my window from the mauka side of the Island and truly grateful to be alive and sharing with you tonight a Wealth Meditation

…I read this last night in the book You Can Heal Your Life (Gift Edition) by Louise Hay…

…in it she talks about how to bring wealth, health and happiness into our lives…

…and she shares a Wealth Meditation

…here it goes…

Wealth Meditation

…imagine yourself standing by the Ocean and the water and the ocean are the abundance of wealth…

…and there is so much that it will never run dry…

…and there are people there with you and you all have a container to take as much abundance as you want…

…and no one takes from anyone else because there is an endless supply…

…so you look down and see what kind of container do you have?

…because the bigger your container the bigger your abundance will be…

…do you have a cup, or a spoon, or have you constructed a pipeline to pump water from the ocean…

…whatever your container is the size of your abundance and you can make the container as big as you want!

…didn’t that feel good?!?

Can You Be Spiritual and Make Tons of Money?

…this is Mey here blogging on a beautiful and raining Sunday afternoon blogging about Can You Be Spiritual and Make Tons of Money?

…I did a scope on this topic this morning, and I got a lot of interesting comments regarding it…

…here’s the video sideways!

…some of the comments show that people have a lot of energy around money and spirituality…

…one person felt that God didn’t like money and wanted nothing to do with it…

…other’s felt that money makes things fun…

…some people think money is a tool to use in life…

…however, very few thought about money being an outlet for spirituality…

…the story I want to share is of my mentor Lawrence Tam, who has earned tons of money in his internet business (1.7 Million in the last 3 years in Empower, $50,000 in IPAS, and so on…his results are not typical, see average earnings HERE)…

…Lawrence is a spiritual person and shared with us in our last team meeting that he prays for us, and our business, in the hopes that we all become successful and fulfill our dreams…

…he is not the only example of a spiritual person making tons of money…

…in fact, I remember back to my days in my kung fu team back in Taiwan when my kung fu sister brought up a book of a monk whose spiritual journey entailed going out and becoming wealthy…

…they ended up opening up a diamond mind…

…in my case, I pursue my blog and internet business as well as financial freedom for all as a spiritual exercise…

…to unlock my highest potential and be the biggest beneficial force that I can be on this planet…

…and therefore raise the  vibration of all living things…

…I think it is an important question and would like to hear your thoughts…

Can you be spiritual and make tons of money?

Children and Financial Freedom

…this is Mey here on a beautiful and cool Thursday evening, after a massive rainfall during the day, talking about Children and Financial Freedom

…by far one of the biggest MOTIVATORS for people to get life insurance, save money, buy a house, get a stable job and do things that drastically improve their money and wealth is when they have children…

…suddenly, it isn’t just you anymore, now you have to care for this cute little bundle of joy that you love more than your own life…

…and priorities shift…

…I know a lot of successful internet marketers, Lawrence Tam, Rhonda Swan, Sarita, Laura Parish and even the big Dave Wood himself, who find great power, money and financial freedom because they love their children and their families so much!

…for many of the internet marketers I know, the money they’ve made have given them the financial means necessary to start having children…Tracy Walker, Justin and Dee Verengia, Toby and Layla Black…

…children bring out the best in us…

…and motivate us to be more creative, to think outside of the box…

…to create financial freedom so that we have money AND time to spend with our children…

…and what a joy it is!

…I’ll tell you a little bit of my story…

…I was looking for a way to live a better quality of life and reading books, attending seminars and what I noticed is that every successful person said the best moment of their lives was when their children were born…

…I realized that if so many successful people felt that this was the most important moment of their lives, then having children is the highest goal…

…plus, I enjoyed playing with kids!

…so I got on a quest to make a family…

…I found my husband Jomel on E-Harmony and he moved to Honolulu from LA in 2012 to marry me, and we had our son Jordan the following year…
Jomel and Mey Wedding Toast

…and I have to admit, having Jordan has been wonderful!

…the most precious moments are time spend loving our family…

Our Son Jordan Duldulao

…I’m do grateful to have our son in our lives, and how I am motivated to thing bigger, play bigger and just be an inspiration, so that my son can see me and learn from his Mommy…

…and I share my world with him, laugh with him, love him…

…and the joys of our lives amaze me!

…What about you? Do you have children? Do they motivate you to financial freedom?
