The First 3 Wealth Files – Are You Programmed To Be Rich?

Did you know that, according to T Harv Eker in the book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, we have wealth files in our brain?

These wealth files determine whether we are going to be rich, middle class or poor.

We can change our wealth files too if we put in the work!

This blog will focus on the first 3 Wealth Files, and the exercises you can do to reprogram your wealth files to create a rich life!

Wealth File #1

Rich people believe “I create my life.”

Poor people believe “Life happens to me.”

DECLARATION “I create the exact level of my financial success!”

Touch your head and say “I have a millionaire mind!”

1. Every time you catch yourself blaming, justifying, or complaining, slide your index finger across your neck, as a trigger to remind yourself that you are slitting your financial throat.

2. Do a “debrief.”  At the end of each day, write down one thing that went well and one thing that didn’t.  Then write the answer to the following question: “How did I create each of these situations?”  If others were involved, ask yourself, “What was my part in creating each of these situations?”

Wealth File #2

Rich people play the money game to win.

Poor people play the money game not to lose.

DECLARATION “My goal is to become a millionaire and more!”

Touch your head and say “I have a millionaire mind!”

1. Write down two financial objectives that demonstrate your intention to create abundance, not mediocrity or poverty.  Write “play to win” goals for your:

a. Annual Income

b. Net Worth

Make these goals achievable with a realistic time frame, yet at the same time remember to “shoot for the stars.”

2. Go to an upscale restaurant and order a meal at “market price” without asking how much it costs. (If funds are tight, sharing is acceptable.)

P.S. No chicken!

Wealth File #3

Rich people are committed to being rich.

Poor people want to be rich.

DECLARATION “I commit to being rich.”

Touch your head and say “I have a millionaire mind!”

1. Write a short paragraph on exactly why creating wealth is important to you.  Be specific.

2. Meet with a friend or family member who is willing to support you.  Tell that person you want to evoke the power of communication for the purpose of creating greater success.  Put your hand on your heart, look that person in the eye, and repeat the following statement: “I, _________[your name], do hereby commit to becoming a millionaire or more by _________[date].”

Tell your partner “I believe in you.”

Then you say, “Thank you.”

Conclusion

Why Do The Wealthy Use Credit Cards?

Why do the Wealthy Use Credit Cards?

…there are things that the wealthy pretty much all do and one of them is use credit cards…

…however, you have to know how to use credit cards the way they do to benefit…

…read this post to the end to learn more about how to use Credit Cards like the rich and wealthy do…

Pay Off Your Balance In Full Every Month

…wealthy people use credit cards and they pay off their full balance every month…

…that way they don’t incur interest charges…

…this is important since it ends up acting like a checking account except that if you don’t agree with any transaction, you can dispute it and get your money back!

Use Credit Cards With Rewards and Miles Programs

…the wealthy use credit cards for regular purchases because they get rewards points and miles…

…these add up and become gift cards, airline tickets, car rentals, cruises…

…and if you spend a lot, you definitely earn a lot of benefits…

Check All Of Your Charges Every Month

…the wealthy make sure that all of the charges each month are theirs…

…if they are not, they dispute the charges and get their money back…

…this is way better than a checking account, as it allows you protection in your spending…

Use the Insurance and Travel Protection Benefits of The Credit Card

…most cards have added insurances built in…

…you need to get a card that has the kind of insurance that you like…

…for instance, if you rent a car with the credit card, oftentimes the card has auto rental insurance built in…

…so you don’t have to insure the car with the car rental agency…

…they also oftentimes have lost baggage insurance, and other great protections…

…the wealthy will use these benefits when the need them…

Use The Concierge Services

…some credit cards come with travel benefits such as concierge services…

…you get to call a number and they will help plan your vacation, get you tickets to events, and help you find great restaurants…

…it depends on the type of card you have…

…usually, this perk comes with cards that have higher spend…

Use Cards That Waive Foreign Transaction Fees When Traveling Overseas

…another reason the wealth use credit cards is that the higher end ones will waive the foreign transaction fees when they travel to other countries…

…these charges can really add up so they love having these fees waived…

…if they spend a lot of money on their cards, they usually have this feature built in…

Improve Their Credit Score

…responsible use of credit creates higher credit scores…

…higher credit scores lead to lower rates on other loans like mortgages and other loans…

…it can also open the door for better credit cards with better perks!

Conclusion

The wealthy are good at controlling their spending so it’s easy for them to pay off their balance in full every month…

…their credit card then becomes a way of protecting their money…

…in addition, they earn additional rewards, insurance, services and other perks…

…the banks love their spending because they are making them money with the processing fees, and will gladly waive their late fees if they ever do pay late…

…it’s worth mastering our credit card use and always pay our balances in full…

…and get the rewards of using credit cards…

You Must Be Rich To Be Happy

…Mey here blogging on a fantastic Tuesday evening, did a handstand today and it felt GREAT, blogging about You Must Be Rich To Be Happy

…does that shock you?

…you must be rich to be happy?

…what if I told you that it will all make sense with a math equation?

The Story – The Extremely Wealthy Gas Station Attendant

…this story is taken from Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives by Dan Millman…

…a young man named Dan had a teacher who he called Socrates…

…Socrates was very wise, and was also a gas station attendant…

…so one day Dan and Socrates were attending to a limo…

…and after, Dan said, “Do you think rich folks like that are happier than poor stiffs like us?”…

…then Socrates replied “I’m extremely rich Dan.  In fact, you have to be rich to be happy.”

…then he drew the following math equation:

SATISFACTION
HAPPINESS = —————————

DESIRES

…and he told Dan that happiness is when you can satisfy your desires…

…and so if you have very large desires you need to do more to satisfy them…

…or you can have very few desires and it’s very easy to satisfy them…

…so if you can be happier with less, then you are extremely wealthy…

Conclusion

…do you think you have to be rich to be happy now?

…rich in that everything you desire is satisfied!

How To Save When Your Friends Are Spending…

…Mey here at my desk on a beautiful Monday evening 8pm with today’s topic of how to save when your friends are spending…

…the most important tenet to becoming wealthy, financially free, rich and successful with money is to SAVE at least 10% of everything you make and keep it safe, and grow it…

…most people spend everything they make, and also spend more than they make!

…this happens a lot from peer pressure…

…say your friends go out to party and you all buy drinks and food and you’re spending your paycheck away every weekend…

…or your friends are all buying new cars and you want a new car too…

…I have a friend who used to make a lot of money and every year felt the need to upgrade his BMW, spending thousands of thousands of dollars excessively, draining his wealth…

…you get the picture…

…so how can you save when your friends are spending?

…here are 5 Tips to keep more money for you and get wealthy…

1) Set a budget when you party with friends, and buy just one drink and then just water the rest of the night…you can volunteer as the designated driver and save yourself hundreds if not thousands every month…

2) Hang out with new friends who are wiser about saving their money and spending their time…join an investing club, or take evening classes in finance…open your horizon and meet new people!  Make friends who are financially free…

3) …do an automatic paycheck deduction so that every time you get paid, at least 10% is put in a savings account that you never touch, that way the money is not there and you won’t spend it…

4) …wait a couple of months before you make a large car purchase, or purchase a house…let the pressure of keeping up with your friends wear off and take this time to calculate whether buying the item is worth it…instead of just saving the money…

5) Learn something new about financial freedom and money everyday, by reading a new book or a financial magazine, or even reading the daily blog post here at Yes Financially Free…

…I hope these tips help you make wiser decisions, and break away from the pack so that you can be one of the 1% who actually becomes financially free!

10 Quotes on How Self Control Will Make You Save To Become Financially Free

…what do you think a key factor to success is in your finances and life in general?

…well, I hadn’t really thought about this key until reading the Laws of Success recently by Napoleon Hill…

…it’s self control…

…and then I thought about how I save weekly for myself, my husband also saves for himself, we save for our joint account and we also put aside savings for Jordan…

…and that takes a great deal of self control…

…we could have spent it all on this snazzy motorcycle for our son Jordan instead…

…and yet, we save, because that’s how to become wealthy…

…so this post has essential quotes to help get you pumped and focused on self control….

thanks to Quote Garden which provided these quotes, and where you can see more at http://www.quotegarden.com/self-control.html

  1. Discipline is remembering what you want.

    ~David Campbell

…ever say you want to be wealthy, start saving, and then spend all your savings when times get rough?

…I like how David Campbell puts it, if you had remembered what you wanted, you would have left the savings alone…

  2. Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.

~Abraham Joshua Heschel, The Insecurity of Freedom: Essays on Human Existence, 1967

    …saying no to oneself…

…I think that is a cool way of talking about self discipline…

…so you ask if you can spend your savings to pay your credit card bill and you tell yourself back, NO!

  3. Not being able to govern events, I govern myself, and apply myself to them, if they will not apply themselves to me.

    ~Michel de Montaigne, Essays, 1588

…self control is the only control there is and ever was…

    …this is a great reminder =)

  4. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours — it is an amazing journey — and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

    ~Bob Moawad

…I have to say that this was a wonderful day in my life, when I realized this…

    …it changed my life forever!

  5. Discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs tons.

    ~Author Unknown

…it is true that self discipline, such as a weekly savings habit, does take energy, money and effort…

…however, I think being broke is much much more effort don’t you agree?

  6. You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage — pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically — to say no to other things. And the way to do that is by having a bigger yes burning inside. The enemy of the best is often the good.

    ~Stephen Covey

…yes, you can live a comfortable life and then depend on your children when you are old by spending away all of your money…

…or you could save, and honor yourself, and the hard work and great person that you truly are…

    …and grow wealth instead!

  7. It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.

    ~Buddha

…it is us making our decisions in life…

…we know which ones lead to positive outcomes and which do not…

…it is the power of our mind and our choices…

  8. The cyclone derives its powers from a calm center. So does a person.

    ~Norman Vincent Peale

…great metaphor for the ideal of self control…

    …strength of a cyclone and calm center…

  9. It’s all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back.

    ~Mick Jagger

…I love this one, you can sometimes spend some money from your savings…

…as long as you can pay it back with interest…

…it’s ok to enjoy your life, within reason and moderation…

    …thanks Mick Jagger!

  10. I am,
    indeed,
    a king,
    because I know how
    to rule myself.

    ~Pietro Aretino, 1537
…let’s be the royalty that we truly are, by ruling ourselves wisely!
